These are indeed trying times! The evolution of societal integration has become wrought with confrontational admonitions, boorish insensitivities and personalities of self-grandiosity.
These types of degrading comments blemish the souls of those who might otherwise be men and women of fine stature. Sadly, these insensitive egotists have no shame for their verbal abuses. Change in these behaviors must become a priority from all corners of this world’s varied social venues.
Seeking the assistance of local communities and their spiritual leaders is paramount to addressing these issues.
Fraumann is a fictional name. The quotes came from a truly bothersome person.
“Can’t you be happy with what you’ve got?” This was said to Fraumann’s proclaimed “oldest and dearest friend” of over 50 years, whose sole source of income has been Social Security disability benefits for over fifteen years. Another Fraumann quote further emphasizes the lack of empathy and understanding for someone not of his/her social, economic or intellectual levels: “I make an obscene amount of money.” With retirement income of $54,000 per year plus full Social Security benefits, Fraumann has benefited from employment in a publicly funded position that offers a retirement income equal to that earned while employed.
Fraumann, and similar egoists, freely demonize others who fail to fit into their social mold. Self-reverence is not an attribute that promotes social integration. It’s an affront to common decency.
“Oh, that still bothers you?” As Fraumann’s “oldest and dearest friend” wept on a sunny beach one August afternoon, the reason for the emotional outburst was coldly tempered with those five words. Fraumann’s ‘friend’ had lost a mother one year prior. Fraumann had known the deceased from childhood, and been a frequent dinner guest.
“Your dad’s been gone two Christmases.” Imagine those very words being said to a still-grieving offspring. The father had been dead a mere 8 months! And this was a man Fraumann had known for over 50 years.
“He seems fine to me!” Fraumann sat next to me on a sofa. I was trying to relate to Fraumann the challenges that his “dearest and oldest friend” was facing as he was dealing with the effects of being bi-polar. Fraumann would have nothing of it… whatsoever! As Fraumann shot up from the couch, with his head glancing over his right shoulder, he declared, “He seems fine to me!” and dashed off to the porch, leaving me stranded with an overwhelming sense of disbelief. Fraumann was aware that the “dearest and oldest friend” had attempted suicide.
Even now, Fraumann routinely solicits sympathy for the slightest of ailments. A bout of flu is often fraught with a proclamation, “I wouldn’t wish this on anybody!”
Fraumann continues to disregard the seriousness of mental illness by repeatedly articulating the belief that ending one’s own life is “…taking the easy way out”. Fraumann believes that being suicidal is not a mental condition, it is a personal choice. This was emphasized upon the death of act Robin Williams.

“You get back what you give.” This is an often repeated affirmation of Fraumann. Fraumann’s belief cries for being rewarded for any real, or even a perceived, act of kindness, understanding or contribution. Thus, to Fraumann, rather than an act of benevolence, charity demands a reward of some value.
“As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same.” Job 4:8
Fraumann’s attitude is represented by a comment attributed to Nicole Kidman, “What’s the point of doing something if nobody’s watching?”
This is in contrast to truly notable quotes:
“The charity that hastens to proclaim its good deeds, ceases to be charity, and is only pride and ostentation.” Historian William Hutton.
“It is a capital blunder, as you discover, when another man recites his charities.” Ralph Waldo Emerson.
One person’s observation characterized Fraumann as being “self-absorbed”.Added May 31, 2017 by R Rae - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
